"Er kommt von seinen Vorbildern aus Folk, Blues und Rock über die Bedeutung der Mundart und der Sprache der Matrosen und Cowboys schließlich auf drei Epen zu sprechen, die sein Werk beeinflusst haben: neben „Moby Dick“ und Homers „Odyssee“ zählt er dazu überraschenderweise auch Remarques „Im Westen nichts Neues“. Das wird der Exegese seiner Antikriegslieder vielleicht noch manche interessante Note hinzufügen – und womöglich Vergleiche mit Elton Johns „All Quiet on the Western Front“ (1982)."
